        Sinopsis

        Owen Thursday, general durante la Guerra civil (1861-1865) y recientemente degradado, llega a Fort Apache como teniente coronel acompañado de su bella hija Philadelphia para hacerse cargo del mando. Fort Apache, situado en medio del desierto, es un puesto militar fronterizo y sus soldados estan curtidos en las luchas contra los apaches mescaleros.
